چکیده

Implicit large-eddy simulation/Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes hybrid simulation of sheet-like hydrogen jets in a supersonic crossflow are performed to investigate jet mixing, focusing on the difference flow structures between and round jets. The is validated with helium experiment terms mean concentration. numerical results showed good agreement experimental results. A characteristic injection from exit spread windward toward spanwise direction owing strong interaction freestream, while leeward highly penetrated freestream. In investigation mixing using different geometries, it was found that has lower efficiency compared jet. two characteristics (i) large cross-sectional area, (ii) weak turbulent shear layer. As effect momentum flux ratio port, enhanced increasing ratio.

Numerical Simulation of Mixing Enhancement in a Hot Supersonic Jet

Experimental observations show that the presence of small tabs on the edge of a hot, compressible jet exiting into a slower moving, colder ambient ow can increase the rate of spreading of the jet. This suggests that the rate of mixing of the jet and the ambient uid is also increased. In order to elucidate the physical mechanism responsible for the increased spreading rate a set of calculations ...

Direct Numerical Simulation of Jet in Crossflow actuators

Jet vortex generators have been proven to provide a mechanism to positively control boundary layer flows. The present paper illustrates a method to perform direct numerical simulations (DNS) of a jet actuator flow inside a laminar boundary layer. A structured finite difference method is used for the simulations. The numerical scheme was adapted to account for the large scale differences both in...

Direct Numerical Simulation of a Transitional Jet in Crossflow with Mixing and Chemical Reactions

The paper describes DNS of a jet in crossflow at Re=650 and jet-to-crossflow velocity ratio R=3.3. Laminar boundary conditions are employed which makes the present flow configuration advantageous for benchmarking. Use is made of local grid refinement in the region of transition to turbulence. Comparison with Re=325 is carried out for some appropriate quantities. Nine passive scalars, reacting a...

investigation of supersonic jet into compressible subsonic cross flow on the surfaces around the jet exit

an experimental study has been performed to investigate the flow physics of an under-expanded axisymmetric supersonic jet exhausting transversely from a flat plate into a subsonic compressible cross flow. the goal was to study the effects of boundary layer thickness ratio (δ/d) and the jet to free stream dynamic pressure ratio (j) on surface pressure. the resulting measurements distinctly show ...
